Most recently I have been using a new product line called L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Nourishing System for dry hair. I was provided full size bottles of the shampoo, conditioner and lustrous oil serum in exchange for my opinions, via Influenster. I don't think I would have ever purchased them myself just because anything with oil in the name tends to scare me off. With my hair being as fine as it is I don't want anything that is going to weigh it down.
Included in the box were the shampoo, conditioner, serum and a coupon for future purchases.
The bottles promise soft and lustrous hair in just one wash. Lofty
claims! Still, I am always up to try something new, especially for my
favorite price - free!
My Perspective:
- Size-At 12.6 oz for the S/C and 3.4 oz for the serum, the bottles are very generously sized. Rating 5/5
- Shampoo/Conditioner Packaging-The bottles are a gold/soft amber color and are very appealing. The bottle shapes modernize them and make them feel a little bit higher tier than they are. Rating 3.5/5
- Serum Packaging - It is a pump bottle and is flat in the front and rounded in the back and feels very good in the hand. At first I was concerned by the fact that it didn't come with a lid, but then I discovered the BEST FEATURE EVER. The pump locks. A simple click locks and unlocks it and prevents any spilling. This is the first time I have encountered this on an oil or serum and I LOVE it. It just makes sense. Take note every other hair company. This is how you should be packaging your products! Rating 5/5
- Scent - Interestingly enough, although they all have the same ingredients, they each smelled differently to me. For me the shampoo was floral, the conditioner smells more like coconut and tanning oil and the serum is a happy blend of the two. None of the scents were overwhelming just pleasant but they are long lasting. I wash my hair every three to four days depending on time constraints and laziness, and even on day three my hair still smelled amazing! Rating 4/5
- Ingredients - The oils listed as included are Argan, Chamomile, Coconut, Amla, Soja and Sunflower. I frequently use Argan oil on both mine and Satina's hair, and Coconut on Satina's, but have no experience until now with the others. Others have drawn attention to the fact that they include sulfates, which may dry out your hair but I have no knowledge or experience in regard to this. Thoughts? Rating 3.5/5 ?
- Experience - The shampoo lathers well, and a little bit goes a long way. I find myself using about half of what I use with many other shampoos. After rinsing it out my hair does feel a little dry. The conditioner is creamy and thick and applies easily. I use a little less than what I typically would with other products with really good results. After rinsing it out the dryness from the shampoo is gone. After my hair really was noticeably shinier and more touchable, and the scent was an added bonus. I was really pleased with how well the results lived up to the expectations. As previously mentioned, I wash my hair only a couple times a week, and on the third day some of the luster/touchability was gone so I used a small amount of the serum applied to dry hair and my hair was instantly refreshed. I could have gone another day or two without washing if needed. I do think if you were heavy handed the serum could make you look like a greaser, but just a dab will make your hair soft and nice. I use about a pea size for my hair, which while thin, is quite long, to the middle of my back. Rating 4.5/5
