Puppy Love (minus the puppies)

Hi all, and HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

My niece Satina has had a little boyfriend at school named Harvey for months now. They hold hands and walk together, she talks about him nonstop etc. but when we ask her if he knows he is her boyfriend, the answer is always a resounding no. She refuses to tell him or anyone else for fear of her teacher getting angry. We always assure her that wouldn't be the case, but NO MORE. All I had to do was tell her yesterday that Valentines day is meant for telling people you love them and BAM she was ready. Here is the love letter she wrote on the back of his Valentine card.

I hope he still comes to her birthday party Saturday!

Yesterday when she came home from school, she told me that she was playing with him on the playground and told him "I love holding your hand" to which he apparently responded "Love is gross". Isn't that the cutest thing?

Happy New Years!

Hi all :) It's been ages I know, sorry! Unfortunately I have had one technological issue after another and its been a bit difficult to stay on top of blogging. BUT as it is a new year, I figure we should start it out right! I am unsure of all of my resolutions, as I usually have a comprehensive list, but I will list for you the ones that I know :)

  1. Continue being Soda free (62 days and counting!)
  2. Go for a walk every day that the weather permits it.
  3. Lose weight. It is inevitably on the list, I am not going to say how much I want to lose because if I dont reach it I will feel bad! Therefore I am going to just be happy with any loss!
  4. Get a job, even if its part time.
  5. Visit Kentucky
  6. Get better organized
  7. Spend less time playing facebook games. Seriously, it's an issue.
  8. Blog three times a week, minimum.
Like I said, there are bound to be more, and this isn't anything to do with my 12 in 2012 list that I am compiling (more on that another day!) If I think of more I will update you! What are your resolutions this year? Are they different than those in the past? How likely are you to stick to them? Let me know in the comments!

Hi all :) Today my laptop cord, that I have had for just over a month burned up. As in throwing sparks and completely broke in half. This is about the sixth cord in the 2.5 years I have had the computer. I bought it off of ebay new, and it supposedly has a three year warranty so I contacted them and am waiting for a response. Fingers crossed they actually replace it! Also Satina and I carved a jack-o-lantern today. Yeah its November, but we still had a pumpkin left unadorned and it made her happy. It was proven once again that unlike this guy my destiny does not lie in pumpkin carving. I guess I will keep looking! Also, just as a quick update, I am still completely soda free (day four) and amazed at how easy its been. I am almost scared to jinx myself! I would like to think  that my willpower and motivation is just stronger this time :) Enough rambling.

*Today I am thankful that every gray cloud has a silver lining. As in, sure my cord caught on fire but nothing else did!*

Happy Halloween :)

Hi all :) Hope your Halloween was fun and fabulous! Ours was crazy busy and fun! It was made up of bounce houses, carnival rides and free food. Free is my favorite number!

Hi all :) I have neglected this  a bit the past week, but I have been and continue to be busy with Halloween preparations. I cannot believe its in four days! We don't even have a pumpkin yet! We are getting one tomorrow though.  We still haven't finished Satina's costume. Heck I don't even have a costume idea for myself or an idea of where to go. This Halloween will be a failure I think haha. Yet I did manage to create some pretty adorable treats for Satina's kindergarten class and teacher. We took them in today and they LOVED them. It was so cute! Oohing and aahing and shouting with excitement. I love little kids. Anyway, the ideas were found on pinterest, and executed accordingly with only a single set back. Originally we were going to make tissue paper pumpkins to be the treat bags, but when all was said and done..EEW. They looked like lumpy fluorescent garlic. Not appealing. Thankfully we got some adorable Frankenstein bags at the Dollar Tree last minute!
Tootsie Pop Spiders. Super cute.
The blue were my favorites. Pretty and poseable!
Chocolate Bar Ghost. Bats were made also and were ADORABLE. Template .
Bats, Ghosts and Mummy Juice Boxes
Mrs. Cloud's basket. Everything the kids had too. Candy bar ghosts and bats, spiders, mummy juice box, pencils, erasers, bubbles and treat bag full of candy :)
All wrapped up! I think its pretty cute, and she seemed really impressed too!

On top of it being the week before Halloween, its also a four day week and drug free/spirit week at Satina's school. They had red day(monday), on which she looked SUPER cute, like a little cheerleader. Tuesday was camo day, wednesday was pajama day and today was jersey/sports team day. Of course I forgot to take pictures everyday but today, which for me is practically tragic! I need those for her kindergarten scrap book. Maybe I will make her recreate the days. Wacko. Anyway, here she is in her baby blue Jacksonville Jaguars jersey, blue and white striped leggings and a blue and white gingham bow. She looked really cute!

26

Well yesterday I turned the big 2-6. Finally crossed into the second quarter of life. Maybe I will get out of this quarter life crisis now? Probably not, knowing me! Oh well. So yesterday, for my birthday, the family and I went to the Buddhist temple up the street from my house, and then checked out the GORGEOUS Wekiwa Springs. There was chinese food between these two places, but man mediocre chinese is mediocre. I mean, how can you possibly mess up rice noodles? How can you say you have no green beans when you are snapping them two tables over. Sadness. Ugh enough with that mess of a distraction, onto the pictures!

New Traditions

Hi all :) Just a quick update today. Its Christmas EVE!!

Satina and I made our first gingerbread house Wednesday. It was one of those cheapo kits from Wal-Mart but she loved it! It looks like it will be the beginning of a new tradition! Hopefully next year we will be better prepared and have lots of supplies, vs scrounging up what was in the cabinets. Anyways here are a few action shots :) Enjoy!

Merry Christmas Eve :)

Christmas Parade :)

Hi all :) Can you believe its only four days until Christmas? How quickly has this year flown by? It feels like it should be September and its almost the New Year. Crazy. Oh well, tis the season! So Bardstown puts on a pretty good holiday parade, and we were lucky enough to be in town to catch it, so I thought I would post some of the photos and a short video today. I started to post these back when it actually happened (Dec 2nd!) but I figured it would be better suited to this week! Enjoy :)

First off here is an awesome train float that was nearly impossible to get a proper photo of!

..and a shot of the car it was pulling. So cute <3
These guys were cracking me up..
Not your typical classic car

It was a real yabba dabba doo time..(I am killing myself here *groan*)

I totally want this. Can you just imagine me rolling up in this? OH YEAH! Lets make it happen!
These were the only people present who weren't freezing!
Lightning McQueen! Totally neat :)
Here comes Santa Claus!
Satina's dad was in town and was suckered into buying her a super cool sword
And finally, what would Christmas be without a flesh-toned Care Bear? Nothing.
Of course there was SO much more, marching bands, flag twirling, way more floats, tractors and classic cars galore, horse drawn carriages, and lots and LOTS of candy being thrown. Not to mention the six, yes six, Grinches. Wowza. It was really a great night out, although we were frozen by the end of it! Does your town have any special ways of celebrating the holidays? What was the best/worst parade float you have seen?? Leave it in the comments :)

My Christmas Fantasy

Hi all :) So I have decided to share my Christmas fantasy with you today :) As much as I grumble about the snow/slushy crap weather, I have always dreamed of spending a week in New York City for Christmas. It just seems so magical to me,like a Thomas Kinkade if you will. Thats how I refer to it, my Kinkade Christmas :D Anyways in my mind it goes something like this:

First off I would stay at gorgeous luxury hotel such as The Peninsula New York
Of course I would have to see the tree at The Rockefeller Center
Do a little ice skating in Central Park

Take a romantic carriage ride with the one I love

Let FAO SCHWARZ bring out the kid in me :)

Find out what is so spectacular at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Have tea and cakes inside a birdcage at Sweetiepie
Get lost in the beauty of the movement of The Nutcracker
And do lots of shopping, including the window variety

Of course, there are a few holes in this story, being that I don't love cold weather, have never been ice skating, and there is no boy person in my life to speak of. But hey, anything could happen right? What are some dreams that you guys have like this? Have any suggestions on what should be added to my Kinkade Christmas? If so let me know!!

Best Wishes and Wildest Dreams!! <3
